Understanding TenePass Case Types

< All Topics

After selecting a rental certificate, applicants must choose one of the TenePass case types. Every TenePass evaluation is based on both a certificate and a case type. This structure ensures that the evaluation aligns with the applicant’s professional situation and that the correct documents are used. Case types define what information is required, how it is assessed, and which factors influence the final rental score.

TenePass currently supports three main case types:

Employee

This case type applies to individuals working under an employment contract. Income is typically earned through a fixed salary or regular job-related payments.

Applicants in this category are usually asked to provide documents such as:

  • Recent payslips

  • Signed employment contracts

  • Bank statements showing salary deposits

Self-Employed

This case type is designed for freelancers, business owners, and other independent professionals. The evaluation is based on income from self-run activities or enterprises.

Supporting documents may include:

  • Profit and loss statements

  • Bank records showing business income

  • Chamber of Commerce (KvK) registration

Student

This case type applies to individuals currently enrolled in a university or school. Evaluation may include documentation from guarantors, student grants, or part-time employment.

Relevant documents often include:

  • Proof of enrollment

  • Guarantor agreements

  • Student income or allowance statements

Choosing the Right Case

Selecting the appropriate case type ensures that the evaluation reflects the applicant’s real-life situation and that the submitted documents match the expected review process. Case types can be changed at any time before evaluation begins, offering flexibility as circumstances change.
